falling up
liquid body · efficiency, wellbeing and fluid movement
To change the relationship between the parts of the body, so they get along… so they get along better.
An integral training that fosters relaxation, fluidity, conscious strength and respectful flexibility to achieve the greatest efficiency of movement and action. To maximize both physical and mental wellbeing.
Relaxation is the basis of the practice, and through relaxation we reach moments of intense physical activity. This intense activity, joined with various works of imagination and visualization, helps align body, mind and emotion and generate lightness in body and spirit.
Falling up is a technique of movement, visualization and imagination exercises that help us inhabit and listen to the body so that we find the paths through which movement flows in the most economical way.
Falling up draws on Noguchi gymnastics, butoh, physical theatre training and other somatic techniques. These influences, distilled over years of practice and teaching, converge into a technique of its own where gravity ceases to be an obstacle and becomes the unlimited force at our disposal.
Principles
connectivity
Every point of the body is in close relationship. Any change in one point affects the others.
relaxed tension
The minimum tension necessary. No more, no less. The body finds its natural efficiency.
continuity
Movement does not stop between actions. Action as an invisible fluid that links everything.
oneness
The body as a single entity. The visible and the invisible trained together.
Elementary concepts
the body as network
the body as network
Every point is in close relationship. Any change in one point affects the others. The body is not a sum of parts but an interconnected totality.
visible and invisible entity
visible and invisible entity
The body has a visible physical dimension and an invisible energetic dimension. Both are trained together in the practice of Liquid Body.
energetics of movement
energetics of movement
We study dynamics and the use of forces. Gravity is the unlimited force at our disposal — not an obstacle but an ally.
poetics of movement
poetics of movement
Imagination is a powerful part of reality. Poetic dynamisms reduce psycho-emotional tension and open new pathways of movement.
action as fluid
action as fluid
We use the cohesion of the body to link actions. Movement has no beginning or end — it is a continuous flow that runs through the body.
