Integración II. RESTEND
“In Restend, the impatient clown reminds us of our anxiety about the future, while butoh whispers to us the importance of dwelling beyond time, where birth and death are one.”
Urgency and Rhythm, Imagination as Labyrinth
Restend deepens the exploration of the butoh + clown fusion, marking a significant evolution from Pringle. Here it is no longer just an abrupt leap between two languages, but an organic coexistence, a mutual contamination that manifests in the body itself on stage. Clown and butoh oscillate as facets of a whole. .
The tension between urgency and rhythm. The beginning, anchored in organic temporality and the presence of butoh, is confronted by the irruption of a character who embodies vital impatience, the desire to skip stages to reach his goal, a love killed by urgency.
This piece raises a reflection on how a small obstacle can overflow and become a catalyst for inner exploration. The crisis the character faces forces him to break the barriers of perception, to enter the depth of his dream world. Imagination presents itself initially as a refuge, a space of placidity where the final destination is forgotten.
However, Restend also explores the danger of losing oneself in one’s own imagination. That mental ocean, initially a place of escape, becomes a liquid, eternal prison when the character realizes that what he longed for has vanished. The final struggle against the creations of his mind proves vain, underlining the fragility of the line between liberating fantasy and inescapable reality.
In essence, Restend is a meditation on time, the desire for transcendence and the risk of losing the present in the obsession with the future. The figure of the clown, in this context, could represent that part of us that grows impatient, that resists the natural rhythm of life, while the language of butoh evokes the slowness and depth of the journey.
“I continue the research to fuse butoh and clown”
SYNOPSIS
A journey unfolds, marked by the slow cadence of a butoh beginning.
But an urgency bursts in, a longing to accelerate time, to reach a rest that feels far off.
A small stumble becomes an abyss, a crisis that tears the borders of consciousness.
Submerged in the depth of dreams, floating in an imaginary ocean, destiny fades into the placidity of fantasy.
Awakening brings irreparable loss: eternal rest slips through the fingers.
Now the mind wanders aimlessly, trapped in the creations of its own imagination, sailing eternally in a sea where the shore of rest has been lost forever.
