A butoh pelao – raw dance Thursdays

A Butoh Pelao arises from a concrete need: to stir the emerging scene around butoh in Madrid, to bring new audiences closer to this dance and to offer the artists linked to it a place to show their creations and research. Non-profit. No billing hierarchies. A space that holds itself up because there are those who need it to exist.

Each Thursday alternates between two formats.

contubernio

El Contubernio is a night of improvisation. Dancers and musicians given over to vertigo without a net. The name is not innocent: contubernio is the cohabitation of those who should not be together, the association for objectionable ends. Here the ends are movement, resonance, the anonymous us that emerges when bodies stop pretending they know what they are going to do. Despite language’s pretension to totality, margins exist. We improvise in those margins.

La Velada Ex-cénica is an open stage for short pieces: butoh and other currents, whatever runs through us and makes us shudder. Between six and eight pieces of eight minutes each. A space for presence, for risk, for discovering together different ways of reaching the heart.
