The raw is not the empty. It is what was always there underneath: alive, exposed, vulnerable, full. A body that keeps what the heat of culture and education destroys. Raw dance exists to bring it to light.

You get there by subtraction — removing what is superfluous. By duration — dancing until you disappear. By immersion — no exit, no word, no recording. Through the Ni space — where it is no longer you who dances.

But the raw body cannot exist alone. It needs an equally raw context: intimate, dark, without distractions, without judgements. Rawness is not brutality, it is radical honesty.

the cycle

Ciclo Danza Cruda is a monthly initiative that was born as a companion to the ni.butoh training: a raw-food art diet served on an underground stage. Nine editions between 2022 and 2023. Wild and naked. An intimate encounter, with no hiding places, where we feel and pulse in unison without distractions.

Each edition combined three elements articulated around a specific ni.butoh concept or technique: a thematic workshop, a performance or piece in collaboration with a guest artist, and a long-duration jam. The concept enters through the body before passing through the head. What opens on Saturday culminates in the performance. What remains unresolved on Sunday is devoured by the jam.

Open to all bodies that wish to research in freedom and respect. With emphasis on care: of the space, of the bodies, of the processes and of freedom

The cycle is currently on pause. The intention is to resume it soon.

the workshop

Each workshop revolves around a specific ni.butoh concept or technique.

Two days of immersion where the theme is not just the starting point — it is the whole territory. :

the performance

On Saturday night we enjoy an improvisation work built in the moment together with a guest artist, based on the weekend’s theme.
The audience does not attend — it participates in the creation of something that can only happen once. Art prepared with those who are going to see it.

As in life; there is no rehearsal, only one chance.

Unrepeatable by definition.

the jam – The Garden of Delights

A container for research and enjoyment, to put into practice what has been observed, what has been practised and what arises in the movement itself.
To dance until you disappear. To dance until you stop being what you were. To dance until being dance is the only possibility of existence.

The jams of Ciclo Danza Cruda last between 3 and 10 hours. A journey of immersion into the need of each dance and each moment.

You can: move, stop, scream, jump, slither, growl, sweat, bite, throw, write, draw, paint. Bring costume and paraphernalia, accepting that it may be shared.
You cannot: talk. The word, however secretly it is used, brings society’s judgement into the room. Nor record video or take photos.
